How to Safely Remove AMP from Website?

AMP is like raitun, easy to make but if it fails then it becomes difficult to compile and now in 2022 this raitun has spread. The trends of the accelerated mobile pages of amp ie have ended. Google itself has stopped giving benefits to the amp, and because the restrictions in AMP are so high that even if there is not going to get special traffic from google, then even big websites have called AMP by BYE.

Search engine land also closed AMP in about November-December 2021, but still many people are either using AMP or are spoiling the traffic of their website in order to remove it because AMP Removing it is not such an easy task. So in today’s blog we will see how to remove AMP safely, and we will also see why these problems arise in removing AMP? So that in the future, you do not trap your website in any such problem.
In today’s blog we will talk about ways to remove AMP safely. AMP i.e. accelerator mobile pages was launched by google in 2015. 2015, then Microsoft also used to make phones, i phone 6, or it was the era of samsung galaxy S6. Websites that were designed for desktop did not open properly and at the right time on mobile.
That’s why google took the responsibility of making the websites fast. The AMP version had only the necessary CSS and very less JS, which helped the pages to download faster, but less CSS and less JS means not only fast websites, but also websites with less features. Happens. Most of the fast is empty page but Google is not a teacher of Hindi who will give cleanliness numbers in the exam copy.
It is not possible to add functions to AMP sites and since Google stopped giving preference to AMP pages in top stories, there is no use of using AMP. That is why most of the websites stopped using AMP.
Now if you want to remove AMP from your website, then just disabling the plugin or removing AMP pages will not work.

It has 3 steps.

1. Remove AMP from Website
2. Remove AMP URLs from Google search
3. Save AMP Traffic from Getting Lost

1: Remove AMP from Website

It is easy to remove AMP from the website, if your website is on WordPress, then you have to first disable the AMP plugin directly and also delete it. And if your website is non-wordpress then you can remove your AMP pages from your database or your server.

2: Remove AMP URLs from Google search or How to Remove AMP Pages from Google Search?

To remove AMP pages from Google search, you can take the help of removal tool of Google search console. You can access the removal tool from this URL.
URL: https://search.google.com/search-console/removals

3: Save AMP Traffics with redirects

To save AMP traffic from sinking means that google is still showing the AMP URLs of your website in the search results and will continue to show it for several days, maybe for weeks, to reach those users to the right pages.
When you remove AMP from your website in the first step, all the URLs with AMP on your website have become zero. Now when Google will show those URLs in the search results and when someone clicks on them, they will get 4O4 error, because the page has been deleted. What is the solution of this problem? You have to redirect the URLs of all the AMP pages on your website to normal URLs, that too in type 301.
Now we cannot redirect individual URLs by ourselves, that’s why we will use a little trick. If your website is built on WordPress, then you can use a plugin with redirection, you can use a plugin like rank math. And if your website is not on wordpress then you can setup redirecton using .htaccess file.
Let me tell you about it in a little detail. First we know on wordpress and then we will come to .htaccess.
For redirection in WordPress, you can use special redirection plugin, which comes for free or you can use rank math or any other seo plugin. The options that each redirection module has, the setting are almost the same. Here in the demo I will show you how to setup the Rank math plugin.

Steps of Rank Math Paid Plugin

Go to the redirection section of Rank math and click on add new.
Then after that in the source url we will paste this below code
Code
and select Regex from the drop down here. You have to tick the Regex tick box in the redirection plugin. And then you have to paste this in the destination url.
Here you have to keep in mind that instead of example.com, you have to paste your url in this URL. By looking at whether it has https or www.
In redirection type, you have to select 301 and everything else will remain as it is. Then after that you have to click on add redirection or save button and now all your AMP URLs will be automatically redirected to the correct url of the website.
For non wordpress website, you have to go to the dashboard of your hosting, and then open the file manager, and then after this you have to open the .htaccess file and paste this code in the last of this file. Then save the file as it is and that’s it. So in this way now you can safely redirect all your AMP pages to non AMP pages and add AMP raitun. 😄
